CARLO SENONER
Carlo Senoner was born on October 24, 1943 in the small village of Freina in Selva -Gardena Valley, at the foot of
the Sassolungo and the Ciampinoi slope. In 1970, the famous ski slope was the venue of the World Ski Championships.
Born as second youngest son of a numerous wood-carver and hoteliers family, he followed his passion for skiing from
childhood on the world famous slopes of the Sella Ronda.
Sports career:
- First skiing experiences at the age of 4
- Participation in school-, local and regional championships
- 1958 Italian Champion (junior class) in giant slalom, participation at Criterium International (junior class) in Yugoslavia, first place in slalom and giant slalom
- The same year selection to the National team and participation in the Fis-Championships in Wengen, Kitzbühel...
- 1959 Italian Champion (junior class) and overall winner in giant slalom
- 1960 Participation in the Olympic Games of Squaw Valley with good positions
- 1961 Winner of the "3-Tre" in Canazei in slalom and giant slalom, 9th place in slalom at the Hahnenkamm, 5th place in downhill in Megève, 10th place in special slalom and 6th place in combination
- 1962 7th place in slalom at the World Championships in Chamonix, 6th place in giant slalom and 4th place in combination
- 1963 Overall winner of the "3-Tre" in Madonna di Campiglio, 4th and 5th position in the giant slaloms in Adelboden, 1st position in downhill in Zermatt
- 1964 Olympic Games in Innsbruck: cancelled participation due to 11 leg fractures
- 1966 the Comeback:
Winner of the World Ski Championships in Portillo - Chile in special slalom
- 1968 Participation in the Olympic Games of Grenoble and decision to end his sports career
